ChattaScooter: Chattanooga’s Electric Scooter Repairs Shop

For electric scooter repairs look no further: ChattaScooter! Headquartered on the North Shore, ChattaScooter is the first full-service repair shop for electric scooters and other mobility devices (e.g., e-longboards, electric unicycles) in Chattanooga.

Sometimes our customers ask us, “Hey ChattaScooter, how are you so good at repairing electric scooters?” Well customers, I think we’ve kept our secret for long enough. I’d like to introduce you to Clark: one of our original guides who found his passion at the intersection of technology and adventure sports.

He’s a Lead Adventure Guide and our Lead Technician. From flat tires to mystery error codes, power failures to brake service, Clark has diagnosed and performed repairs across a gamut of gear (from scooters to the Swincar, our electric off-road ATV), manufacturers and models.

Our customers often ask what would be the key things to know regarding electric scooter repairs :

1. Get your app

A LOT of manufacturers these days provide free apps that you can pair to your scooter for access to settings and diagnostics. Download your scooter’s app! There’s nothing worse than having intermittent issues with your e-scooter, bringing it to us, and then not being able to replicate the problem you’ve been seeing. If your scooter is intermittently losing power, sounding an alarm, or otherwise misbehaving, your manufacturer app will likely help you diagnose the problem. As soon as the problem occurs, check your app for error codes, write down or screenshot any information you get, and bring it with you when you drop off your scooter. That can go a long way in helping us to diagnose and speed up your electric scooter repairs.

2. Get your scooter parts in advance

Due to the sheer number of scooter models and manufacturers out there, it’s basically impossible to anticipate what will come through the door well enough to keep relevant parts in stock. When we receive a scooter for repair, we will almost certainly need to order any necessary parts. We will not upcharge you for parts that we order, but shipping will account for almost all of the time that your e-scooter spends in the repair dungeon.

We are more than happy to determine and order any and all parts that you may need to get your scooter up and running (and if you don’t know exactly what you need, we would rather order for you to make sure that we get just the right stuff). However, if you know what you need, you just don’t feel comfortable doing the repair yourself, go ahead and get it! Bring in the part(s) when you drop off your e-scooter, and we may even be able to get it fixed and back under your feet on the same day! This won’t always be possible, but you can call in advance, check on the queue, and save yourself a trip by dropping off and picking up your scooter in the same afternoon.

3.Consider going airless

Most often, our customers come to us with flat tires. Smaller wheel sizes, stiffer tires and the added complication of needing to disconnect disc brakes and a motor can make fixing electric scooter tires more daunting than changing bike tires. We’re happy to simplify your life and take care of all your tire needs.

However, many of our customers opt into replacing their standard tube or tubeless tires with airless tires. Most airless e-scooter tires have a honeycomb hole pattern in the wheel wall, so they’re not completely rigid, but they never need to be inflated. Airless tires can make for a stiffer ride, as they have a bit less cushion and they’re less forgiving in bumpy environments. But, if you do most of your e-scooter riding on smooth surfaces, then airless tires are a great way to ensure that you can forget about flats throughout the lifetime of the tire.

Installing airless tires is a tricky DIY project, as it involves heating the tire just enough to allow it to flex around the wheel, and even after heating, it takes a considerable amount of force to stretch and mount the tire. We’re happy to tackle this task for you.  If you need a tire/tube replaced, or if you’d like to pre-emp future flats, give us a call! We’ll make sure that there are airless tires available for your particular electric scooter and arrange a time for you to bring to the store your electric scooter repairs.

When you come for electric scooter repairs, we want to hear directly from you what the problem is. For more complex problems, we may need to give you a call back with a diagnosis and estimate. Either way, we’ll make sure to get your authorization before we place any parts orders or start performing your electric scooter repairs.

So do yourself a favor by leaving your electric scooter repairs in the hands of an expert- ChattaScooter is here to help you!  For more information, checkout chattascooter.com.
